Catering

Fresh mochi ice cream, delivered to your event.

ケータリング

We make mochi ice cream by hand every morning at 36 JFK Street, a few doors into The Garage in Harvard Square. We bring it to your office, your lab, your lecture hall or your party, and we do it for 20 people or 200.

Tell us the date, how many people and whether it is pickup or delivery, and we will come back with a firm quote within one business day.

The Team Station

About 25 guests. Drop-off.

Our signature setup, and the one companies book twice.

Ask for a quote

We arrive half an hour early, set the table up, walk two of your people through it and leave you to it. Everyone wraps their own mochi. It takes about a minute to learn, and about two minutes a person at the table.

Four half-size mochi each, so everyone gets to try every flavour. The team that booked us twice asked for halves after the first time, and they were right.

Includes

  • Fresh mochi wrappers, pressed and ready to fill
  • Ice cream portioned into scoops, so nobody has to scoop
  • Three syrups you pick
  • Plates, spoons, napkins, everything else
  • A printed instruction card left at the table
  • Setup

Pick four flavours

  • Matcha
  • black sesame
  • lychee
  • mango
  • peach oolong
  • banana milk

Pick three syrups

  • Strawberry yuzu
  • brown sugar
  • bitter matcha
  • condensed milk

Want more than four a head? Say so on the form and we will build it into your quote.

The Staffed Station

About 50 guests. We stay.

Everything above, and two of our people stay and work the table for up to two hours. We demo it, keep it stocked and clean it up.

Four half-size mochi a head.

This one is worth it above about 40 guests. Under that, take the Team Station and we will show two of your people how to run it. Minimum 40 guests.

The Tray Drop

About 100 guests. Drop-off, nothing to run.

200 pieces, made that morning, delivered frozen in trays, ready to serve. No station, no setup, nobody has to do anything.

Any mix of the six flavours. Two a head is the usual call, three if it is the only dessert.

Smaller tray orders start at 30 pieces.

Add matcha

64 ozper tote

Matcha by the 64 oz tote, added to your quote.

Batched and delivered cold in an insulated tote with cups. Serves 8 to 10. Two totes cover about 20.

  • Matcha latte
  • hojicha latte
  • black sesame latte
  • pandan latte
  • ube latte

The matcha in our lattes comes direct from a family grower in Kagoshima. We bring it in ourselves rather than through a distributor.

Who books us

  • Company offices and team events.
  • Research labs and departments.
  • Student organisations.
  • Birthdays.
  • Weddings.

For a wedding or anything with a long run of speeches, take the Tray Drop and tell us where the freezer is. A self-serve station wants a 30 to 40 minute window, and weddings do not have those.

How it works

  1. Tell us the date, how many people and whether it is pickup or delivery. The form is below and it takes about a minute.

  2. We send you a firm quote within one business day, with tax and delivery already in the total.

  3. You say yes, we invoice, and we show up.

Pickup and delivery

  • Pickup at 36 JFK St
  • Cambridge, Somerville, Boston, Brookline
  • Greater Boston beyond that

Delivery is $25 in Cambridge, Somerville, Boston and Brookline.

Further out than that, ask us and we will quote it.

This fee covers delivery, setup and equipment. It is not a tip, it is not a service charge, and none of it is distributed to staff.

Questions people actually ask

How much notice do you need?

Three business days up to 100 pieces. Five for 100 to 200. If your date is sooner, ask anyway, we have turned a job around in three days before.

How long does it keep out of the freezer?

About 30 to 40 minutes. That is plenty for a normal dessert window. If yours runs longer, we need a freezer or a fridge on site, so tell us at booking.

What about allergies?

The dough is rice-based and made without gluten-containing ingredients, though ours is not a certified gluten-free kitchen. We don't use peanuts or tree nuts in our facility. Our soft serve mix and flavour bases are made in a supplier's plant that also processes egg, wheat, peanut and tree nuts. The soft serve and the mochi contain milk and soy. Every piece goes out labelled with its ingredients and allergens. Tell us about allergies when you book and we will pack it so it is obvious which is which. The kitchen handles dairy, soy, sesame, coconut and oats.

Do you do soft serve at events?

Not off site. Soft serve needs a working freezer at your end for the whole event, and almost nowhere has one. The mochi travels properly, so that is what we bring.

Tax?

Massachusetts meals tax of 7% applies. If you are tax exempt, send your Form ST-2 and a completed ST-5 with the invoice and it goes out with no tax.

How do we pay?

Card by phone on 857-318-8959, or a check to Kyoyo Haus LLC. Please do not email card numbers. We invoice on confirmation. Orders over $1,000 take a 50% deposit.

What if we have to cancel?

More than 48 hours out, full refund. Inside 48 hours, 50%. Inside 24 hours, no refund. Everything is made fresh for you. Headcount can move up to 48 hours before. Taking an item off does not create a credit against the rest.

Will you do a small one?

Yes. Most dessert caterers here will not take you under 50 or 75 guests. We will do 20.

Ask for a quote

Start with the date, how many people and pickup or delivery. If we need anything else, like your serving time, we will ask before we send the firm quote.
