The new drop is Banana Milk. It is in the case now as mochi ice cream and soft serve.
Banana milk is a drink before it is a dessert flavor, sold cold in bottles across East Asia. That is the version we went after. Ripe banana blended into cold milk, mellow rather than fruity, sweet without turning sugary.
The problem to solve with this one was softness. Banana milk is mellow, the mochi around it is soft, and soft serve is soft by definition. Stack all three and the item has nothing in it with an edge. So both versions come with something to chew.
The mochi is $7.50, wrapped by hand the morning you eat it, and it comes with a banana milk pipette and sliced strawberries. The strawberries are the edge. Cold, a little acidic, and firm enough to push back against a filling that does not.
The soft serve is $6.50, with the same banana milk pipette and coarse sugar over the top. Coarse sugar does not melt into cold soft cream the way fine sugar does. It sits on the surface and crunches. Both pipettes are included in those prices.
Thai Tea came off the menu to make room. It held a rotating seat from April through August, spiced orange, bold and warm, and it is in the archive now. Four months is a long run for a rotating seat, and only Milk Tea has held one longer. Boba went with it, so nothing on the menu carries boba right now.
Peach Oolong handed off the drop but kept a rotating seat. The three rotating flavors are lychee, peach oolong, and Banana Milk. Matcha, black sesame, and mango have not moved and are not going to.
A new flavor lands about once a month, so one of the rotating three will step aside again before long. The next one is in the works and we are not saying which. The seasonal page has the signup and the archive with dates. In the case now at 36 JFK Street, Harvard Square, and on Chowbus for pickup or delivery.
